
A new feature has been added to Rentec Direct’s property management software allowing team members to customize the email notifications they receive regarding renter payments. Customization options, like this new Payment Reminder Toggle, gives Rentec Direct clients another tool to personalize their software experience to fit their rental management needs.
We can all agree that email notifications play an important role in our daily digital lives. They help us stay informed about important events, updates, and communications. Effectively managing and organizing your notifications can save you time from sorting through excessive emails and also help you track the status of projects, payments, and orders without becoming overwhelmed.
At Rentec Direct, we understand that every property manager and landlord has their preferences when it comes to receiving email notifications. Whether you find scheduled payment notifications helpful for budgeting and planning or prefer not to receive them at all, Rentec Direct gives you the power to select only the most helpful notifications. With the New Payment Reminder Toggle, you can now turn off upcoming payment reminder emails or choose a specific email address for delivery based on your workflow and needs. This feature is especially helpful in keeping your communications organized as your portfolio grows, giving you full control over your notifications and inbox.
Online Payment Notification Options
Rentec Direct includes three automatic notifications related to online payment activity to help you monitor your account and tenant payment status. Until now, only two of them could be turned on or off.
- Send emails on payment failures – This option will send you an email notification when an online payment transaction fails. For instance, if the tenant does not have sufficient funds or has closed their account.
- Send upcoming payment reminders to tenants -This option sends an email reminding tenants that they have scheduled an upcoming payment. It can help reduce failed payments and improve communication with tenants.
- Send upcoming payment reminders to manager – This option sends a reminder for each tenant that has scheduled an upcoming payment to you, or the property manager assigned to the property.
While most managers prefer to receive notices when rent payments fail and remind tenants that they have scheduled a payment online, receiving an email for each tenant who has scheduled a payment online can quickly fill up an inbox, contributing to email overload. The New Scheduled Payment Reminder Toggle allows you to turn off notifications for upcoming payment reminders, extending your options to turn off notifications for all three messages.
How it Works
By default, the Send upcoming payment reminders is on, and emails will automatically be sent to the first configured email between:
- Payment notification email address entered in Online Payment Settings
- Property manager’s email (for PM clients)
- User’s account information email
You can quickly turn on or off any or all three automatic notification options or enter a designated email address to receive notifications. This allows you to customize notifications to work within your preferred workflow.
The following steps walk through how to change your online payment notification settings:
In your Rentec Direct account:
- Click on Settings
- Under Financial, click on Online Payments
- Enter an alternate Payment Notification Email Address or change Send upcoming payment reminders to manager to No
- Click on Save Changes
This handy option can help you filter out some of your daily digital noise, reduce distractions, and find the right balance in your workflow.
