As your Rentec Direct Development Team focuses on significant feature updates and rollouts, attention to more minor issues and software updates is equally crucial. Collaborating closely with your Rentec Direct Client Success Team about Feature Requests and feedback from our clients, developers aim to identify and implement necessary fixes and enhancements to improve the efficiency and quality of the software for our users.

We can’t wait to show you the New and Enhanced features below. You can find these and previous updates in the System Updates and News & Tips sections on the Summary tab of your Rentec Direct account or have them delivered directly to your email by subscribing to the Rentec Direct Blog.

In-house, the team refers to smaller updates as bug fixes, QuickFix, HotFix, or issues and large updates as Features or Enhancements. While we don’t report every fix or update to you, you can be assured that your success and development teams work together to evaluate helpful updates that will improve your workflow and save you time.

Here are some highlights of what the Development Team has been working on during the first quarter of 2024.

*Security Enhancement*

  • Limit the number of financial accounts that can be added to the tenant portal in 24 hours. This limit helps ensure our customers’ credit card compliance rules.

  • Feature 3375 – Added the option to void ACH and CC transactions
  • Feature 3460 – Make showing tenants’ names in the Owner Portal optional
  • Enhancement 2355 – Remodel free user websites, improved editing and display options

  • Enhancement 2522 – Add option to include Archived Properties to Owner Statement A, Owner Statement B, Property Service Dates, and Vacant Property  reports, which can be helpful for tax filing
  • Enhancement 2563 – ACH payment emails to vendors now include split transaction details
  • Enhancement 2574 – Properties Page Updates, which include new sort options and faster load times
  • Enhancement 2586 – Helpful reminders that clients can access menus using their right-click
  • Enhancement 2606 – Added onboarding stage check and schedule setup link to get started menu for new clients
  • Enhancement 2612 – The “Bank” field in transactions will display if the bank has been “archived”
  • Enhancement 2619 – Improve email deliverability performance by removing the legacy advanced email handling option
  • Enhancement 2625 – Replace report date with today’s date in recurring Scheduled reports
  • Enhancement 2652 – Improve CSV formatting of remodeled reports
  • Enhancement 2658 – Apply default fee settings to tenants created from approved applications
  • Enhancement 3495 – Show the number of available configurable subunits on the configured subunit row

  • Bug fix 3342 – Send scheduled reports created by subusers with “Include myself” enabled
  • Bug fix 3374 – Remove blank pages sometimes found in remodeled Owner Statement reports
  • Bug fix 3379 – Help the tenant remember to enter the date for the credit card
  • Bug fix 2627 – Show transactions from deleted depreciations in Schedule E
  • Bug fix 3417 – Fix the date range used in the Property Performance report’s Occupancy data
  • Bug fix 3394 – Allow colon characters ”:” in attachment file names
  • Bug fix 3423 – Historic move-in date to include up to 25 years prior
  • Bug fix 3445 – Show line item figures for split transactions in the remodeled Account Ledger B report
  • Bug fix – Ensure all attachments are uploaded before the submit button shows when sending Group Messages
  • Issue 2445 – Save all changes before the submit button shows in batch input to ensure submitted data matches what’s shown on the screen
  • Issue 2505 – Dates in modified lease notes are now formatted mm/dd/yyyy
  • Issue 2521 – Disable recurring and depreciate options when posting vendor ach expense 
  • Issue 2532 – Ensure marketing images are sent in the same order as added to syndication sites
  • Issue 2538 – Show one invoice per tenant per property in the All Statements report when filtered by the owner
  • Issue 2568 – Give subuser immediate access to the newly created property
  • Issue 2581 – Allow read-only users to register passkeys
  • Issue 2584 – Reduce font size in remodeled Operating Statement reports to prevent pages from being cut off when printed or downloaded
  • Issue 2594 – Use active tenants’ phone numbers when assigning incoming messages
  • Issue 2601 – Automatically retry failed emails with attachments
  • Issue 2607 – Improve performance of Category Ledger report when all properties and all categories are selected to create a report quickly
  • Issue 2614 – ”Insurance Required” can be checked at any time to have tenants included in the Renters Insurance report
  • Issue 2618 – Fix blank Tenant > Forms page
  • Issue 2623 – Added sorting by date as an option on remodeled Vendor Ledger, Category Ledger, CAM Receipts, Check Register, and Receipts Register reports
  • Issue 2635 – Support thumbnails of webp images 
  • Issue 2638 – Show correct status in remodeled Completed Online Payments report
  • Issue 2641 – Remove the “Close this window” screen after editing a transaction reached from a remodeled report
  • Issue 2643 – Show the correct amount, not the total amount, for each line of the split transaction
  • Issue 2648 – Use noreply@propertymanage.biz as the default “From” address to enhance delivery rates for vendor-payment emails
  • Issue 2661 – Do not show the Out of Service date in the Property Service Dates report for properties with current or incoming tenants
  • Issue 2666 – Only show future tenants on the properties page if the tenant has not moved out
  • Issue 2674 – Have “Estimated Delivery Date” on the Outgoing ACH report in line with Forte timing

Remodeled User Website

The newly remodeled website with Rentec Direct property management software helps elevate your online presence. Streamline communication with your tenant and owner clients with more options to customize your color themes, clickable links to share videos of the property or walk-throughs, and Images optimized to automatically format to fit cell phones, tablets, and computers. Print out eye-catching flyers for available properties, add a QR code to your website, and print flyers for your company.

Upcoming New Features

The Rentec Direct Development Team has several exciting new features that will be released soon. You might even recognize a feature or two as one you requested!

Keep an eye out for new links to the Product Updates section on the Summary page of your software, which is one of the best places to learn about feature updates in Rentec Direct. You may also notice new options on your reports and updates in the Knowledge Base articles as these updates get released.

Rentec Direct Mobile App

The long-requested mobile app of Rentec Direct’s property management will allow you to seamlessly access your Rentec Direct account and data from any mobile device. Rentec Direct’s property management software mobile app will be fully functional, meaning all features, tools, and data that you are used to using on desktop are usable within the app (compared to competitors mobile apps with limited functionality).

 This app will allow you to:

  • Conveniently manage your Rentec Direct property management software while you are on the go from your phone or mobile device
  • Receive the same notifications found in your Rentec Direct software
  • The option of forwarding text messages responses

The Rentec Direct mobile app is currently in beta for Rentec Direct Insiders and will be available to all clients soon.
